At the same time, there is plenty of anesthesia professionals, physicians, and CRNAs, who experience this type of environment daily in a variety of settings.

Especially in a high-intensity and high-stress environment like anesthesiology, there are plenty of examples of toxicity, and such practitioners are highly susceptible to mental health disorders and drug abuse.

Worst than that, unlike many other specialties or professions, anesthesia providers don't have the flexibility to hop from one job to another one. The process to change jobs in our field can take 3 to 6 months due to contractual long resignation notices, anti-competition clauses, monopolies, and purely logistical nightmares.

Therefore, it is essential to denounce bullying, condensing, and unprofessional behavior in every setting but especially to those who are already withstanding a tremendous amount of stress due to the nature of their work.
